Television stars gathered at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles for the 65 Annual Primetime Emmy Awards tonight.
This year there were more than two dozen major categories. Breaking Bad won for Outstanding Drama Series. Breaking Bad was nominated for 13 Emmys this year. As far as the Outstanding Comedy Series category, Modern Family picked up that award.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus won the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Veep, while Jim Parsons won for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in The Big Bang Theory. The Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama went to Jeff Daniels for Newsroom, and Claire Danes, of Homeland, won for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama.
This year, Netflix caused quite a stir, as House of Cards was up for nine awards and Arrested Development was up for three.
Neil Patrick Harris hosted, while Elton John and Carrie Underwood performed. Tributes were held for James Gandolfini and Corey Monteith.
