Faculty and staff are speaking out against a plan to build a sewage treatment plant close to Philips Avenue Elementary School in Flanders.
School employees concerned about the plan say their students play on the outside field daily.
The Town of Southampton says the facility will be 900 feet from the school and enclosed in a concrete building with odor control.
Southampton officials say the town is accepting public comment on the plan until Saturday.
