Southold Town has filed a formal complaint against the Federal Aviation Administration, saying that the flight path of helicopters over the North Fork is illegal.
In July, the FAA decided to continue routing Hamptons-bound choppers along the North Shore for another four years.
Southold Supervisor Scott Russell is expected to explain today why the Town deems the decision a violation of "federal law and an executive order."
Residents on the East End have long complained about chopper noise in their communities.
