A Southampton woman with stage 5 kidney failure is in dire need of a donor.
Phyllis Katz, who turns 67 next month, has been on dialysis three days a week since July 2017.
She was left with less than 15 percent functionality in her two kidneys after a strenuous hospital stay in October 2016.
Doctors tell her time is running out, because it could take up to six years to get a kidney. And Katz is not alone - an estimated 90,000 people across the country are on a waiting list for a kidney.
Since her family cannot donate their kidneys due to compatibility reasons, she is reaching out to the public.
Anyone who would like to be screened as a potential donor can contact the Stony Brook Transplant Office at 631-444-6944 or contact Ms. Cohen at scohen11963@gmail.com.
