Southampton Town is now officially the new owner of the Bel-Aire Cove Motel.

In April, the town agreed to buy the blighted property.

Now that deal has closed, according to Newsday.

The town wants to find a developer and turn the property into condos or an upscale hotel.

Some residents are hoping to see the land preserved instead.
