2h agoSouth Shore University Hospital held a wedding reception for one of their patients and his new bride Friday.
Luis Pagan, 36, of Centereach, suffered a seizure on May 9. His tests later revealed the presence of a brain tumor.
Doctors performed the hospital's first awake craniotomy on May 14, ensuring the tumor's removal doesn't affect essential brain function.
While awaiting his surgery, Pagan and his now wife, Nicole, got married in the hospital's chapel.
"I feel like I almost love these people, so it felt like I was getting rolled in with family, and I'm glad it happened the way it did," Pagan says. "I feel like everything happened for a reason."
