A South Brunswick police officer is on the other side of the law after admitting to stealing.

Abraham “Jason” Gassman admitted to stealing more than $75,000 from his Policemen’s Benevolent Association chapter.

Gassman had been the PBA’s chapter treasurer since 2009 and had sole control over its finances.

Officials say he stole the funds over six years.

Investigators discovered the missing funds while looking into Gassman for a separate shoplifting incident at a department store in Ocean Township last year.

Gassman will be sentenced on June 30.
