A rookie NYPD officer from Massapequa is facing murder charges in the death of a childhood friend.
Prosecutors say Errick Allen was arrested Thursday morning. He has been charged with second-degree murder.
Police say Allen shot and killed Chris Curro in Farmingdale two weeks ago. He allegedly shot the West Babylon man in the head five times using his NYPD-issued gun.
Officials say Allen immediately fled the scene, but returned later. Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder says the gunfire erupted after a heated argument.
Allen could face life in prison if convicted. He pleaded not guilty Thursday.
