News 12 has learned exclusively that Nassau County Police Chief of Department Steven Skrynecki will be leaving the department for a new job as the Southampton Town police chief.
Sources tell News 12 that he could start with Southampton as early as January.
Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman could not comment on any specifics as they are in the final negotiation process, but could only say that Skrynecki is an unusually strong candidate for the East End town.
A town spokesperson declined to comment.
