The son of a Freeport man who was found dead at his home has been charged with second-degree murder.
Jordan Johnson, 24, was arraigned on murder charges Wednesday after police say he stabbed his father, 55-year-old Russell Johnson, to death in their home at 34 Laurette Lane in Freeport.
Detectives say an argument led to the stabbing, but don't know how the dispute began. They say the victim was on the phone with his sister at the time of the incident. Detectives say when she heard the disturbance she immediately called 911.
Upon arrival, police officers found the victim dead with multiple stab wounds.
The attorney for Johnson said in court that he has several mental health issues.
Johnson is being held without bail.
Russell Johnson was a longtime employee of CBS News. He was remembered Wednesday during "CBS This Morning."
