Some New Yorkers may be out of what they thought was a secured COVID-19 vaccine appointment due to an "unauthorized" publishing of a scheduling link that is affecting Stony Brook's site.
Marcy Stevens, general counsel for the Office of Information Technology Services, says an "unpublished" scheduling link was shared on social media that shouldn't have been. They say this led to appointments being made at sites that were not taking them in Stony Brook, Binghamton, Buffalo, Plattsburgh, Potsdam and Utica.
In the statement, Stevens says each appointment made using the link was voided, and that they are contacting each person involved to inform them of the situation.
"Out of an abundance of caution we referred this issue to the inspector general," says Stevens. "As this pandemic has shown, equity and equal access are critical in distributing the vaccine."
Stevens issued a reminder that the only way to sign up for vaccinations at state-operated locations is through the Department of Health's website.
