Some Long Island high school athletes were finally back in the game Monday as practice began for some winter sports.
Ten months after the pandemic shut them down, most of the Island's public school winter athletes got ready for their upcoming season.
Not everyone is back though, with only low and moderate risk sports allowed, like track, swimming, bowling, fencing and gymnastics. Winter track is usually an indoor sports, but it will head outdoors this year to mitigate COVID-19 risk.
High-risk winter sports like basketball, wrestling and cheerleading are still indefinitely postponed.
