Some Bronx and city students required to attend new after school tutoring sessions are reportedly not showing up.

The tutoring sessions began at all city public schools last month as part of the new teachers? contract. Students who aren?t performing up to the standard are required to stay an extra 37 and a half minutes after school for four days a week. However, according to the New York Post, Department of Education numbers show many students aren?t attending the sessions. The Post reports also some of the students who voluntarily signed up for the program aren?t showing up.

Meanwhile, parents seem to have mixed opinions on the program. Some parents are praising the program while other parents say the mandatory sessions disrupt family schedules.
