A storm system is bringing rain to Long Island to wrap up the first weekend of 2021, with some mixing with sleet in spots.
The on-and-off showers that began earlier today are continuing this evening and overnight.
The same system is bringing some snowfall to colder areas further north and west of Long Island, in the Hudson Valley and Connecticut. News 12 meteorologists say we could see some brief mixing with sleet here on Long Island, especially spots in Nassau and northwestern Suffolk tonight, but we're not expecting accumulating wintry precipitation.
The precipitation tapers off early Monday morning.
For the rest of Monday, lingering morning clouds will give way to afternoon sun. It'll be breezy at times with highs near 43.
Expect a more tranquil stretch of weather for much of the work week, but News 12 meteorologists are tracking the chance of another storm for next weekend, so stay with us for the very latest forecast information.
