Social Security payments will soon increase by the greatest amount in more than four decades.
Social Security benefits and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments will increase by 8.7% in 2023.
The inflated payments are estimated to affect 70 million people.
The bump will bring the monthly average payment up to $1,827.
