Whipping winds and wet, heavy snow socked the Island and took down power lines. PSEG Long Island says about 49,000 customers were affected by outages throughout the storm.
The towns of Riverhead, Brookhaven and Southampton were the hardest hit, according to PSEG.
The utility company said its crews would work through the night to restore power to all affected customers.
