As if whipping winds and mounds of snow to shovel weren't bad enough, homeowners in some South Shore communities also dealt with flooding wrought by the storm.

On Eighth Street in Lindenhurst, the entire road was a salty, slushy mess a few hours after high tide.

It was a similar scene on Pirates Cove in Massapequa.

Residents say the flooding they experienced happens a couple times per year. They say that despite numerous complaints to local officials, there's little that can be done except to wait until the waters recede.
