Officials have confirmed a small plane landed on a Bronx highway this afternoon.

The small plane came down on the northbound side of the Major Deegan Expressway. The city's Office of Emergency Management says the plane was carrying three passengers out of Danbury, Conn. for a tour of the Statue of Liberty.

The plane experienced an unknown emergency on the way back to Connecticut and made a controlled emergency landing near 233rd Street in the Bronx, not far from the Westchester border.

No one suffered serious injuries. No cars were struck by the plane as it landed.
