Over 300 small business owners attended a meeting Thursday regarding potential vendor opportunities from a casino and entertainment complex being considered for Nassau County.
Las Vegas Sands is betting on building the casino at the current Nassau Coliseum site and the nearly 80 vacant acres surrounding it. The potential project has been met with mixed reactions from the community.

Rosemarie DeMaio, owner of Mama's Custom Cookies, is happy that they are working with local stores and hopes if the casino plans go through, they will continue to work with small businesses.
"We're not really sure what is happening, so we are all going to a meeting tonight to learn more about it," DeMaio says.
There was also supposed to be a Nassau County Planning Commission meeting Thursday on the potential lease transfer for the project. That meeting was immediately adjourned because all of the necessary paper has not been filed by The Sands.
