A prestigious national contest for high school students on Long Island and across the country has suddenly ended.
The Siemens Competition in Math, Science, and Technology is stopping after 19 years.
Last month, three Half Hollow Hills juniors took home $100,000 in the annual event.
Siemens officials say that the foundation is shifting its focus from the competition to other opportunities for young people.
They will use money from donors to train students through other initiatives instead of traditional scholarships.
