A 19-year-old was shot in the face Monday in the parking lot at Field 4 at Jones Beach.
State Park Police say the shooting occurred around 4 p.m. when the victim was walking from the parking lot to the beach. The victim?s injuries are not life threatening and he is expected to survive.
Police say the shooting may have started with an argument, but do not know if it was gang related. Police believe there were at least two suspects and that they fled down the Southern State Parkway. Cops pursued them to the Belt Parkway, where they ditched their vehicle. The suspects are still at large.
State Park Police were at the scene hours after the shooting examining a vehicle for evidence. They say a bullet went through the parked vehicle and became lodged in the engine.
Witnesses and friends of the suspects would not talk to News 12 Long Island.
