Shark expert Greg Metzger, of the South Fork National History Museum, shared tips on how to be safe in the water and be on the lookout for sharks.

Metzger says he and his team have been out on the water a few times already, but they have not caught any sharks yet.

Metzger says beachgoers should be on the lookout for shark food. If you see large schools of bunker fish, whales or dolphins – sharks are probably nearby.

Metzger says just make sure to be aware of your surroundings.
