The weather got really exciting very quickly earlier today when the National Weather Service saw rotation on the radars and issued not one but two tornado warnings in the state.

With the lack of thunderstorm wind damage reports, I highly doubt a tornado touched down, but winds were gusting to 45 mph.

The big headline on the weather marquee once again was flooding. Some parts of Ocean County saw 6 inches of rain in two hours. Parts of Route 22 and Interstate 78 were partially impassable due to intense rain.

Waterlogged New Jersey needs a break, and we finally have one coming, beginning tomorrow.

We will be on the better side of the weather pattern for the end of the week into the weekend and the first few days of the new week. Sunny skies will help dry things out if your neighborhood saw flooding today.

Favorable winds bring an early September feel to the air. Nighttime lows will be crisp and comfortable and daytime skies will be sunny. The temperatures during the day will be warm but will be below average for Friday into Saturday. Friday is the coolest day. Highs only in the mid- to upper 70s.

By Saturday, it's nothing but sunshine and highs in the low 80s. More seasonable by Sunday under sunny skies. Low to mid-80s. The muggy weather isn’t forecasted to return until the mid to end of next week.
