Several residents displaced by Hempstead apartment fire

A fire at a Hempstead apartment building left multiple residents displaced on Saturday.

Officials say it began at the four-story building on Terrace Avenue just before 2 p.m.

The flames spread from the basement to the first floor. It took around 40 minutes for sixty firefighters to gain control of the blaze.

No injuries were reported. Officials say the cause remains under investigation.

The Red Cross is assisting the displaced individuals.
