Several communities across Long Island are now in cleanup mode trying to dry out from Friday’s storm.
Villages like Island Park were underwater from the storm’s surge, causing plenty of damage.
“So you're stuck in your house right now? Yes we are,” Island Park’s Jessica Rasulo told News 12.
Rasulo says three feet of water flooded her home, and it was so awful she had to speak to her on the phone from down the block. She and her family lost all the items in the lower level of the house and three cars.
“I didn't want to leave the house I just felt uncomfortable leaving I know my husband wouldn't have left the house either,” she added.
The excess rainwater, combined with a new moon high tide plus winds pushing water in from the bay lead to the flooding in many parts of the South Shore.
The remnants of the water that didn’t recede left Island Park, among other communities covered in a slush of ice and snow.
