Several back-to-school events were held across Nassau County on Saturday.

More than 200 bookbags, notebooks and other school supplies were given out at Roosevelt High School.

This was the seventh year of the school giveaway.

"School supplies are expensive. This will help many of us," said parent Damaris Lopez.

In Freeport, students were given free haircuts.

"The first day of school is important, so you want to look your best," explained Brandon Llyod, of Trimz Cutz Barber Shop in Freeport.

Other backpack events were also held in Westbury and Central Islip.
