Sentencing was delayed Tuesday for a Middle Island man convicted in a fatal DWI crash.
Vincent Verso is expected to serve only 60 days in a treatment center when he is sentenced for the 2004 accident that killed Edward Zatwarnicki in Medford. Verso?s sentencing was delayed because the Suffolk DWI treatment facility where he will serve his time is full. Officials say the facility has only 31 beds and Verso is fourth in line to be admitted.
The Zatwarnicki family is outraged over the sentence and believes Verso should serve life in prison. Verso?s lawyer says the light sentence is justified because the accident was caused by a faulty traffic light. Sentencing has been rescheduled for April 24.
