State Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno is hinting that the Republican Party is unofficially mulling the idea of cross-endorsing Democrat Tom Suozzi for governor.
Suozzi, currently serving as Nassau County executive, is facing Attorney General Eliot Spitzer in the Democratic primary. Suozzi's campaign manager, Kim Devlin, has said that Suozzi will not change parties or run on the Republican line.
Former New York assemblyman John Faso, former Massachusetts governor William Weld and New York Secretary of State Randy Daniels, all Republicans, are currently in the running for governor. However, many Republicans feel Suozzi would have the best chance of defeating Spitzer.
