A 53-year-old Selden man accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy inside a Mosque is being held on bail.
Niamatullah Ibrahim was arrested Tuesday night after a monthlong investigation and charged in the alleged incident. Police say Ibrahim works and lives at the Selden mosque of the Islamic Association of Long Island and forced the victim into a private room to assault him in April. They say the victim did not report the incident right away.
The teen was a member of the mosque?s youth group, police say.
The Islamic Association of Long Island says in a statement: ?These heinous acts are a gross violation of the fundamental tenets of our faith.?
The organization says it is offering counseling for members and their families.
Ibrahim is being held on $100,000. Police are asking anyone with information about the case to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS
