The annual Jovia Long Island Marathon will take place this Sunday morning.
The race will start on Park Boulevard in the center of Eisenhower Park and will end in the same location.
Officials say they are increasing security as a precaution and will include extra law enforcement personnel as well as bag searches and radiation detection.
Officials also say some of the officers will be in uniforms and others will not. There will also be K-9s out on patrol with their handlers.
Fencing and concrete barriers will be around the entrance and exit. Officials say only people with credentials will be allowed in.
Nassau officials say the security in place is the same as in years past and there is no specific threat.
Road closures will begin at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The race starts at 7:30 a.m. with thousands of runners expected to participate.
