A new cell phone ring that is almost undetectable to adults is all the rage among teens in Roslyn.
Experts say the tone is a variation of the ?mosquito,? which is a system designed in Britain to annoy teenagers away from shop fronts without disturbing adults. Audiologist Dr. Frederick Ruffen says it works like a hearing test, in which limits are reached with high tones. Ruffen says it is a function of age and high frequency nerve cells are the first to go.
School officials say some teachers are catching on to the trend and watching students more closely. Many students say the ring is just a fad and people will soon forget it ever existed.
