An intense search is underway for the hit-and-run driver who ran down an 11-year-old boy on a scooter.
The parents of Max Selesky, who police say was hit by a driver while riding his scooter in Massapequa Park, are asking for the public's help to find the driver.
They say their son is seriously hurt with a concussion in the hospital, but is in stable condition. His parents also say Max is cut up head to toe and will need plastic surgery for his face.
They say he was over at a friend's house for a play date Sunday afternoon on Eastgate Road riding his scooter when a female driver of a red pickup truck hit him and dragged him more than 50 feet. His parents say she then sped off out of the development.
Kerri Deangelo, a neighbor, says she saw Max lying on the ground and the pickup truck, which drove away and made a left onto Northgate Road.
She says she waited by Max's side for the ambulance to come, and that he was brave and didn't cry. He asked Deangelo if he was going to survive.
Witnesses describe the driver as a white woman with long, reddish-brown hair.
Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
