The search for a possible missing surfer off Smith Point was called off last night.

Suffolk Marine Bureau Officers were in the water just after 8:30 p.m.

 The search came after reports of a missing surfer.

The Coast Guard and police helicopters helped in the search.

However, the surfer was not found, and the search had to be called off after two hours because of bad weather.
