Rep. Peter King and Sen. Charles Schumer say the New York area is still a top target for terror attacks.
Schumer and King say they want Congress to beef up security checkpoints all over the tri-state area, including on Long Island. They cite this month's arrest of Najibullah Zazi as an example of why the increased security is needed. Zazi is accused of plotting a bomb attack on New York City.
Schumer and King say the increased security would cost about $40 million.
A Homeland Security committee is considering a bill that would fund the program.
