School Vote 2024 underway across Long Island; polls open until 9 p.m.

News 12’s Kevin Vesey is in Sachem, which wants to hike taxes by 4.87%, which would be about $27 a month for residents. The school board says the hike is needed to address the district’s $6.6 million fiscal cliff.

Polls are open across Long Island for school budget votes on Tuesday until 9 p.m.
News 12’s Jon Dowding is in Hicksville where one teaching job and one administrative job may be eliminated to balance the budget. The district also announced that 59 full-time and 38 part-time teaching assistant jobs will be replaced by 141 part-time aides.
