Voters have spoken in all 124 school districts across Long Island and every school budget, except one, has been approved.
Wyandanch voters rejected their school budget and a 40% tax hike.
However, voters in Wainscott have overridden the state tax cap and approved a tax hike of over 18%.
In addition, Eastport-South Manor voters have rejected a proposal to hire armed security guards and have not pierced the tax cap.
The average school tax hike on Long Island is about 2.5%.
In the event of a failed budget, district officials can choose to put that same budget up for a revote on June 18. They also have the option to come up with a reduced spending plan on that same date, or go straight to a dramatically slimmed-down contingency plan.
