A school custodian in Nassau has been suspended from his job after police say he made terroristic threats against the school and a teacher.
Police say Brian Hulsen, of Bethpage, verbally threatened a teacher at James Vernon School last Friday and said he would shoot up the school like Columbine.
In a statement, school officials said they called Hulsen in to the district's administration building for questioning on Wednesday and, as a precaution, put nearby Oyster Bay High School on lockdown.
Hulsen, 40, was arrested Thursday and arraigned Friday. He had no comments as he left the courthouse. His attorney said he had no intention of carrying out any shooting plot.
The Oyster Bay-East Norwich School District said that Hulsen is not welcome on school property. The judge ordered him to stay away from the teacher he allegedly threatened.
