Scholar Athlete: Joan Cash

Joan Cash, of Sacred Heart Academy, has overcome struggles in her swimming career – most notably the removal of a 14-pound mass on one of her ovaries. In just one year after her surgery, she was back in the pool as team captain and a state champ in the 50-meter freestyle and on two relay teams.
