The superintendent of schools for the Sayville School District confirms three schools are currently in "lock-in" mode because of police activity in the area.

The three schools affected are Sayville Middle School, Lincoln Avenue Elementary School and Sunrise Drive Elementary School.

Officials say "lock-in" mode means the students can not go outside for recess.

Suffolk police confirm to News 12 they are looking for someone in the surrounding area in Holbrook.
