Parents of all backgrounds are searching for Santa's helpers of color this holiday season.
Tony Blackmon, of Middle Island, is searching for a perfect holiday photo with a Santa's helper who looked more like his family.
"Us as parents, we want our kids to grow up knowing that there are different Santas around the whole entire world, there's just not one type of Santa," Blackmon says.
Philana Aiken says she is the only photographer on Long Island offering residents the chance to pick their Santa's helper in her Patchogue studio.
"We want him to look as natural and as real as possible, we want to give people an experience that they're not gonna get anywhere else but here," Aiken says.
Lesly Auguscin, of Central Islip, brought her 1-year-old son Nehemiah to Aiken's studio to start a new tradition.
"This is what America is. We are a diverse country," Auguscin says.
Aiken says parents who come to the studio for the Santa Your Way experience are so grateful for her services. She says they will have a Spanish speaking Santa's helper named "Papa Noel" available for photos shoots in December.
