Sunday marked 13 years since 20 children and six adults were killed in the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown.

Gov. Ned Lamont released a statement on X that says, "The tragedy that impacted Newtown 13 years ago is one of the worst to ever occur in Connecticut. Our hearts will forever be with the 20 innocent children who were taken all too soon and the 6 devoted educators who lost their lives protecting the students they heroically guarded."
