The Sachem School District is showing support for an elementary student battling cancer.
Waverly Elementary hosted its eighth annual St. Baldrick's event to help conquer childhood cancer.
This year's event is dedicated to Sarah Sorenson, a second grader who's now five years in remission.
Sorenson’s mom tells News 12 she was diagnosed at six weeks with a high-grade tumor in her spinal cord and was treated at St. Jude's.
Students, teachers and the principal shaved their heads in support.
The cosmetology students from Sachem East helped give everyone their cool cuts.
