Runners push their limits in the Long Island Marathon

More than 5,000 runners laced up their shoes Sunday morning to compete in the 34th annual Long Island Marathon.
As participants weaved their way through Uniondale, they were cheered by hundreds of spectators who lined up throughout the route. The race, which started outside Nassau Coliseum and ended in Eisenhower Park, consisted of both a half marathon and a full 25-mile race.
Although the distance remained the same for all participants, their ages ranged dramatically with the youngest being 16 and the oldest in their 80?s.
