A small family business in Albertson bid a final farewell to a community that has frequented its store for nearly 40 years.
Roslyn Kosher Foods closed its doors for good on Friday.
In 1985, Holocaust survivor Erwin Jacobson, who was known as Eddie to his customers, opened the original butcher shop on Willis Avenue and expanded to include other food items a few years later.
Emily Ruggiero, the owner of Roslyn Kosher Foods says she is closing out of necessity.
She says she didn’t want to do it but tells News 12 business just isn’t what it used to be.
“I really want to say I’m sorry, but I had no choice," she says.
