The Roslyn community put up ribbons with tennis balls along streetlamps downtown Friday to honor two teenagers whose lives were cut short by an alleged drunk driver.
Drew Hassenbein and Ethan Falkowitz, both 14, were killed in Jericho in May while driving home from a tennis match celebration.
Prosecutors say the two young and promising tennis players were hit by Amandeep Singh, who they say was driving drunk and high on the wrong side of the road.
"We wanted to do something to memorialize beyond one news cycle the death of those two young men," says Roslyn Mayor John Durkin. "It was a tragedy that affected everyone in the village."
Singh pleaded not guilty to charges including manslaughter.
He is due back in court next month.
