The Rockville Centre community is paying tribute to one of their officers who was killed while off-duty.

Officer Michael Lerner was killed in a motorcycle crash in Eastport early on Monday.

The village is now flying flags at half-staff in his memory.

Blue ribbons are being placed around the community in memory of the 39-year-old.

Before coming to Rockville Center as a police officer, Lerner was with the NYPD and a Marine veteran who served in Iraq.
