A special exhibit is being held at the Edgar Allan Poe Cottage, the last permanent home of the famous poet set in the Bronx.
Edgar Allan Poe, one of the greatest American poets, called the Bronx home with his cottage that was built in 1812. The new exhibit inside the cottage lets visitors dive into the lore surrounding Poe's final days, which remain shrouded in mystery to this day.
Poe lived in the cottage from 1846 to 1849 with his wife Virginia. It was located on Kingsbridge Road but was moved to Poe Park in 1913.
The new exhibit inside the cottage lets visitors dive into the lore surrounding Poe's final days, which remain shrouded in mystery to this day. Inside, visitors can see both floors of the home including the restored bedroom, kitchen and sitting room.
Banners, panels and artwork from the Poe Museum in Baltimore are available, as well to see in the Bronx exhibit now through September.
If interested, reach out to the Bronx County Historical Society for an appointment during the week. They're also open for select Saturdays.
