Suffolk County’s 911 system is experiencing service disruptions.

Callers could get busy signals instead of an operator.

According to Suffolk County police, there are intermittent issues with at least one cell phone carrier. Officials would not identify that carrier by name.

A similar problem is happening with the Town of Riverhead’s 911 system.

If you dial 911 and hear a rapid busy signal, hang up and call police directly.

For Suffolk County police, dial 631-852-COPS (2677).

For Riverhead police, dial 631-727-4500.

The outage is only affecting mobile phones. Suffolk County police say it has not impacted emergency services. Officials are working to identify and fix the problem.
