Rice defeats Blakeman in 4th District

After a close race, Kathleen Rice has won the 4th Congressional District seat vacated by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy. She defeated Bruce Blakeman, the former presiding officer of the Nassau County Legislature.

After a close race, Kathleen Rice has won the 4th Congressional District seat vacated by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy.
She defeated Bruce Blakeman, the former presiding officer of the Nassau County Legislature.
"We proved that positivity and ideas beat fear-mongering and dirty campaigning," she said in her victory speech.
Rice was the first woman to become a district attorney on Long Island.
