Long Island shoppers ventured out early to secure Black Friday bargains as stores across the region offer extended hours.
Roosevelt Field Mall is currently open until 9 p.m., providing an opportunity for holiday shopping. In Suffolk, Smith Haven Mall is also welcoming shoppers until 9 p.m., along with the Tanger Outlets in Riverhead on the eastern end of the island.
Retail giants like Target, Walmart, and Best Buy opened their doors at 6 a.m., catering to customers seeking electronics deals. Kohl's initiated an early start at 5 a.m., providing an additional option for shoppers.
However, for those looking to avoid large crowds at major retailers, state officials are encouraging support for local small businesses. The start of the weekend marks 'Small Business Saturday,' a celebration of local mom-and-pop shops in the area, urging shoppers to consider local businesses for their holiday shopping needs.
